Business Development 

The primary function of 'Senior Quantity Surveyor' is to manage the cost relating to building and engineering projects, as well as provide cost and material estimates, draw up projected budgets and help to ensure that the construction project is completed within its projected budget.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Review fabrication and construction plans, and prepare quantity requirements with full understanding on construction specifications and contracts obligations.

  • Manage the estimation and cost planning activities to include presenting the final cost plan including developing whole lifecycle cost models.

  • Manage procurement process, ensuring all stages including pre-qualification, enquiry, Bills of Quantities, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.

  • Responsible for developing new business opportunities with existing and new UNIK clients.

  • Identify and act upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products and services provided to clients.

  • Staff management (where appropriate) - input into the formal management of Quantity Surveyors on their team, to include first round recruitment interviews, input into resource management and attendance at staff appraisals.

  • Training and mentoring - identify and propose training requirements for Quantity Surveyors in the cost management team and mentor staff as required.

  • Prepare drawings in AutoCAD and interpret drawings.


  • Citizen or permanent resident of Brunei Darussalam or foreign nationals.

  • Degree in Engineering (Civil Structural, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management).

  • Minimum twelve (12) years experience in construction or metal fabrication.

  • Experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Project Tendering, Cost Control and Project Monitoring.

  • Experience with MS Office Software / AutoCAD / Cubit / Pronamics Expert Estimation / SAGE Timberline Estimating Software / STAADPRO / Primavera / MS Project / BUILDSOFT Estimating / JDE / CCS Candy Estimating.

  • Training in Computer-Aided Cost Estimating for Construction and/or Computer-Aided Structural Analysis and Design is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical ability with good communication skills.

  • Analytical mind with ability to make accurate mathematical computations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Keen attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time.
